Make your bonfire night party go with a bang with our favourite Guy Fawkes party food recipes, from crêpe bangers to boom boom blinis. A sure-fire way to put the spark into your Guy Fawkes celebrations.

Bang bang chicken crêpes

These crêpes are hot to trot. Place a couple of chicken breasts in a saucepan with a pinch of salt and a sprinkling of fresh shredded ginger. Cover with water, bring up to a simmer and poach until the chicken is cooked through. Drain and cool, then pull apart the chicken with your fingers. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, whisk together a couple of tablespoons of chunky peanut butter, sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, a dash of sesame seed oil, a sprinkling of dried chili flakes, some shredded spring onion and the juice and zest of a fresh lime, and warm through. Cut cucumber and carrot into matchstick-sized pieces. Warm through some crêpes, pile with stacks of cucumber and carrot, layer chicken on top, slather with the sauce, roll up and enjoy a firecracker of a crêpe.

Boom boom blinis

Put the spark into your bonfire night party with this spicy beef and chili blini recipe. To create your boom boom spice mix – in a small bowl, mix together a couple of tablespoons of smoked paprika and chili powder (choose mild, hot, or extra hot according to taste), a tablespoon of ground cumin and a glug of olive oil. Add salt and freshly milled black pepper to taste. Brush your spice mix over juicy strips of sirloin and leave to marinate in the fridge before sizzling over a hot griddle. Arrange the spicy beef slices on warmed blinis and serve sprinkled with paprika for an explosive Guy Fawkes party food snack.

Crêpe bangers with mustard mayo

This take on the classic hot dog will make your bonfire night celebrations go off with a bang. Sizzle up some snags in a pan with caramelised onions (cook over the bonfire for authentic flame-grilled flavour). Substitute stodgy bread rolls for warm crêpes and roll up your sizzling sausage and onions with a squirt of ketchup and a dollop of mayo – we love mustard mayo for an extra kick. Mix a jar of mayonnaise with a couple of spoons of wholegrain mustard and a large pinch of cayenne pepper to ignite your tastebuds. Boom!
